New Arrival - 1949 Ford Custom Club Coupe

After World War II, America was ready for change. Ford delivered this in the form of the first American clean sheet post war design. Popularly known as the “Shoebox Ford” amongst enthusiasts, the design had slab sides and bulbous fenders over a ladder frame and was the beginning of the pontoon design that came to epitomize post war automobile design.

Ford saw great success with this model that ran for three model years (1949-1951), and they offered both an inline 6, and the iconic Flathead V8. The Flathead has been a cornerstone of hot rodders for many decades, and a number of period and modern interpretations exist. The 1949 Ford also introduced the use of a drive shaft to replace the archaic torque tube in transmitting power to the rear wheels. The Shoebox was riddle with new innovation and ushered in a new era of post war Americana.

This 1949 Ford has undergone a no expense spared restoration and modification program. With receipts totaling well over $100K, this build was a source of immense pleasure for the owner, as he oversaw every step of the process. The details on this car are “show” level throughout and the car has gathered up 26 awards to prove that.
