OVERVIEW
In addition to building the finest luxury cars in the world, Mercedes-Benz has developed some of the most robust trucks and utility vehicles for a wide range of terrain and road conditions. The G-Class or G-Wagen was originally developed for off-road military applications. Constructed with traditional body on frame engineering, the aggressive body design evokes purposeful mechanics and tank-like presence with military precision.
Unlike many of the designs developed by Mercedes-Benz, evolutions and iterations were minimal to the G500 series in part because the powerful stance, mechanical superiority, and half a million in sales were hard to argue with. Spanning a near unprecedented 40 years of production owners continue to evangelize the merits of these robust vehicles. In addition to the public praise, much of the iconic status was vaulted by the G-Wagen winning the 1983 Paris-Dakar Rally. But the G500 proved to be versatile in many areas including ongoing military use, aid organization deployment for medical aid missions, and numerous important scientific journeys completed by arriving and returning via G-Wagens from some of the most remote locations in the world. Then there’s “Otto” a 1988 G-Wagen driven by one man covering over 550,000 miles circling the globe as a retirement adventure, until being enshrined at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. There’s no doubting the history, the G-Wagen goes anywhere, arrives in style, and starts up the following day, ready for the next adventure.
Offered in the US officially in 2002, North American delivery models were immediately snatched up by clientele who appreciated the durability, rugged design, and enhanced interior features which included a vast array of comfort and convenience accessories as standard equipment. Special models and limited-edition runs became part of the brand, but over the past 20 years, low-mile factory-built examples in excellent condition continue to attract collector attention throughout the world.
This G500 was sold to the first owner in Fremont, CA, January 11, 2004. Regular services, California emissions testing, and original owner care continued through 2012 when the car was offered for sale through an Idaho dealership, then showing 13,600 miles. The second and current Kirkland, WA owner purchased the car for his personal use and has continued regular services with experts at Mercedes-Benz Bellevue, Park Place Motors, Kirkland, WA, and Eastside European, WA. In late 2018, minor front-end damage occurred to the front bumper and grille at a stop sign incident. The cosmetic damage was expertly repaired by Eurotech Bodywerkes of Kirkland, WA and the silver metallic finished matched using a digital color paint-match system for factory color and metallic match accuracy.
In addition to the regular services performed on this vehicle under current and former ownership, the owner has thoughtfully upgraded this G500 with OEM items specifically selected to upgrade this G500 to PUR or Professional Style with the following updates:

Earlier notable services in 2019 include a new water pump, drive belt tensioner replacement, AC refrigerant recharge, and valve cover gasket replacement.
Currently showing just over 60k miles and finished in factory original silver metallic, the exterior condition of this G500 is beautiful, tastefully upgraded, and representative of the qualities one expects from a top-tier Mercedes-Benz. The smooth and glossy silver metallic paint presents like new, reflecting quality care since delivery. The glass, crystal-clear lighting, lenses, and exterior trim are in excellent cosmetic condition. The doors, hood, and trunk open with ease and offer precise closure. The satin black wheels with black Tri-Star centers wear recently installed BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires which deliver an impressive presence to this G500. Multi-piston brake calipers are perched over ventilated discs brakes at all four corners. The car features dual exhaust, all-wheel drive, and plenty of ground clearance which can be adjusted via red Koni shocks peeking out from under the wheel arches.
The interior is finished in supple, factory black leather which has been properly maintained and preserved, offering premier finishes throughout including rich walnut veneer inserts, soft contoured door panel accents, three position power adjustable front seats, and a wood and leather wrapped steering wheel. The spacious cabin retains a fresh and clean appearance featuring climate controls, cold AC, power sunroof, and ample cargo space behind the rear seats. The sculpted dashboard, excellent instrumentation, and appointed center console are exceptional in condition and detail. The seats are comfortable for long trips and supportive for larger drivers, enhanced by power adjustments which can accommodate long legs with ease. Easily accessible switches, climate, and audio controls are readily at hand to serve creature comforts even when driving over rough terrain. An integrated back up camera, CD player, Bluetooth equipped with navigation system is installed in the center dash section. The interior delivers a purposeful and accessible layout offering luxurious amenities enhanced by burled walnut accents. The current owner reports all interior features function properly.
Under the hood, the 5.0 V8 engine has been consistently maintained and detailed to a high standard. Respectfully serviced and maintained by two owners since new, the finishes, features, and consistent service records confirm the original 60,000 miles indicated on the digital odometer and reflected sequentially on the current Carfax.
Climbing into the G500 and positioning the seat, one is immediately impressed by the visibility and ease of use from the comfortable driving position. The V8 engine is surprisingly docile in moderate traffic, allowing for daily driving with effective power steering and surprisingly docile road manners. Highway driving is pleasant, and braking is direct, linear, and smoothly tracking even when coming down from higher speeds. The suspension and all-wheel drive are confident partners for mountain roads or managing rugged terrain with great traction and stable maneuvering even in snow or high-water conditions.
This beautiful Mercedes-Benz G500 is accompanied by the original silver and chrome factory spare tire cover, the original stereo unit, and a file folder of service records dating back to 2012.
A beautifully upgraded vehicle with Professional (PUR) features, this Mercedes-Benz G500 is sure to capture the imagination of outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy rugged looks and a capable powertrain that invites you to enjoy miles of highway and venture across backroads around the world.
