OVERVIEW

Widely recognized as one of the most important contemporary Aston Martin designs and considered a significant turning point in the growth of the Aston Martin franchise, the DB7 set a new standard for performance excellence in part due to financial backing from Ford Motor Company and the newly developed Jaguar XJS platform. These formidable changes, initiated in 1990, laid the groundwork for the emergence of the new DB7 in 1994.

Built from 1999-2003, the V12 Vantage offered improved horsepower, fantastic torque, and superlative road manners. Performance figures from the 420hp engine included 0-100 km/h times in 5 seconds with a blistering top speed of just under the magic 300 km/h for manual transmission cars. Offered with a ZF five-speed automatic transmission (and later the acclaimed “Touchtronic” ZF box), leather seating, and a host of luxury amenities the Vantage was considered the flagship Aston Martin – a sentiment that continues to be conveyed by enthusiasts seeking examples of these rare and desirable GT cars.

This Aston Martin V12 Vantage is a very well-maintained low-mile Vantage with considerable recent mechanical work including the installation of new front brake rotors and pads, and new front sway bar bushings (May 2022). Recent fuel-injection service, new coil packs, and oil change have also been performed (March 2022). The current owner has enjoyed the past seven years with the car accumulating minimal miles as represented in the 33,000 miles currently indicated. Finished in beautiful Skye Silver Metallic over Oxblood/Black interior, the overall visual impact of this car is very dynamic and sporting, befitting the Aston Martin name.

Originally sold in California in April of 2000, this low mileage DB7 resided with three California owners before being acquired by a local Washington State owner in 2015. Today this beautiful Vantage displays very good quality driver-level finishes and details throughout all body surfaces. Although some body panels have been refinished for cosmetic reasons, the finishes are quite nice including the door jambs and underside areas of the trunk and hood. The silver wheels are in excellent condition showing no curb rash or notable marks and the Michelin tires have ample tread remaining. The exterior lenses and emblems are all in beautiful condition with excellent side and rear gloss and no major marks or chips of note on the windshield. The rubber trim, door gaskets, and various exterior trim are also in excellent condition. Clearly the car has been cared-for but also enjoyed by the current and previous owners. The stance, presence, and impressive design are beautifully conveyed particularly in these colors.

The supple red leather interior offers an impressive array of performance and luxury contrasted by burled walnut inserts, contoured seats with Aston Martin embossing, and a performance-oriented dashboard. The leather trimmed door panels and leather seats are all in excellent condition showing only mild areas of use on the driver’s left side lower seat bolster. A factory installed stereo and adjustable climate controls are easily accessed in the center console above the leather wrapped five-speed automatic transmission lever. All features and systems function as expected, including multi-settings for air conditioning, power windows, and the ubiquitous Aston Martin center mounted clock. The steering wheel, instrumentation, and controls offer original finishes and fastidious detailing consistent with the history and accumulated mileage. Overall, the interior presents handsomely, reflective of the low miles this Aston Martin has covered since new. The trunk compartment retains the original factory components and carpeted liners as well as a V12 Alpine power amp booster mounted to the trunk rear bulkhead.

Under the hood, the Vantage heritage is revealed with the superlative performance powerhouse V12 engine. Impossibly concealed beneath the wide hood, the impressive V12 sits proudly displaying all twelve of the cast aluminum intake plenums draped over the beautifully engineered engine. The engine and engine compartment retain their correct factory finishes including the Aston Martin V12 moniker displayed over the massive engine banks. Correct engine components, all factory stampings, correct labels and correct factory markings are all present and in excellent condition. Underneath the car, inspection reveals evidence of use typical for the miles shown, with clean floor pan and suspension components, tidy construction, and proper attention to detail afforded to a modestly driven car.

The car starts, drives, and handles very much in keeping with the highly revered and respected status attributed to the V12 engine. The combination of superlative ride and neutral handling is surprising given the heft of the front engine, yet this Aston Martin delivers beautifully under all driving conditions. Further still, under more spirited acceleration, the Vantage jumps to life and consumes the highway with a vengeance. The 2000 model year introduced the Touchtronic, developed in conjunction with ZF. As well as a standard automatic mode there is also a sports mode where up changes were made at higher engine speeds. But drivers can also select ‘touchtronic’ mode which is a sequential manual mode for the transmission (via buttons on the steering wheel or the gear lever). Yet even a driver with modest skills can enjoy the performance capacity coupled with air-conditioned comfort, a superb sound system, and the pride of driving one of the most critically acclaimed sports cars in the world. The car is accompanied by an owner’s manual, leather pouch, a modest file containing various service invoices, and a four-volume factory service workbook.

Considered to be among the top performance GT cars offered by Aston Martin, the DB7 Vantage is rapidly becoming more and more sought after among collectors and enthusiasts seeking a remarkable performance car featuring V12 power. Exceptional well-maintained and documented low-mile examples such as this are rare to find, especially in such dynamic colors. This DB7 Vantage presents a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiast seeking to reveal the joy and exhilaration of Aston Martin premier V12 ownership.
