OVERVIEW

Among the most sought-after dual-purpose utility vehicles ever built, the legendary Land Rover 90 and 110 models have spanned decades of production meeting a wide range of needs. Be it trekking through frozen Arctic tundra, bogging through the arid African deserts, or snaking the vast Australian outback, the Defender has met the challenge, spawning an entire genre of Sport Utility Vehicles that followed in the tracks of these legendary icons.

The 110, first offered in 1983, utilized the longer, more comfortable 110” wheelbase. Factory built examples included external and internal roll cages, aluminum body work, 16” alloy wheels, disc brakes, and convenience options including factory stereos and air conditioning. Equipped with four-wheel drive via a five-speed manual synchromesh gearbox and dual-range transfer case, initial market interest was high, but now 30+ years later, a new generation of enthusiasts have discovered the powerful visual and mechanical presence the Defender still conveys today.

This Land Rover Defender has been professionally refinished and configured with several enhancements by the renowned UK-based Land Rover experts at Arkonik. Known for their specialized vehicles, each one is hand-picked and selectively modified per customer order. The subject of extensive restoration, the Arkonik team finished this left-hand drive Defender 110 with Arles Blue body panels and a Chawton White roof. The nine-passenger interior was trimmed in grey leather including bolstered and heated front seats, sunroof, air conditioning, and an Alpine stereo with Apple CarPlay. Exterior equipment included color-matched fender flares, Defender branded A-bar, LED running lights, a Puma hood, a Front Runner roof rack, rear ladder and LED work lamp, underbody guards, fender top diamond cladding, a Warn Winch, and outside mounted spare tire.

The interior was also handsomely finished including a leather wrapped steering wheel, grey suede headliner and side panels, a three-passenger rear seat, and dual sideways facing folding jump seats with seating for four, totaling nine passengers. Grey carpeting and black rubber mats finish the interior trim with durability and matching colors. In addition to the many features noted in the build, this Defender was also outfitted with light guards, air conditioning, black grille, Fire & Ice aluminum side steps, and a heated rear window with window washer. Commissioned in 2016 and delivered shortly thereafter at a total build cost of $150,000.00, this Defender has enjoyed moderate urban use, amassing only 4,300 miles since its restoration was completed.

Today this Defender presents as a durable example of the original design, enhanced by the Arkonik team. Sensitively updated by premier Land Rover experts, the body panels have very good fit and confident closure for all opening panels. The body features a purposeful roof rack and rugged exterior trim, perfectly suited for off-road excursions with ample space for family members in the event rapid departure is required during the Zombie Apocalypse. The stance is tall, confident, and commanding, firmly supported by the dual-speed transfer case four-wheel drive suspension, disc brakes, and the torquey turbo-diesel stump-pulling 200 Tdi engine. A set of BF Goodrich All Terrain T/S KO2 265/75 radial tires are mounted on stunning satin black Hahn alloy wheels. The iconic four door SUV platform layout offers plenty of room for family, camping gear, and roof rack storage for weather resistant luggage.

The interior is a pleasant balance of durable yet comfortable materials, convenience features, and easily accessed controls. With heated leather upholstered seats, air conditioning that blows cold throughout the expansive cabin, additional sound insulation, sunroof, and a state-of-the-art stereo system with Apple CarPlay, passengers can feel equally confident about paved road travel or rugged terrain use. Though designed for off-road capability and specially built to meet the rigors of rough roadways, highway cruising at modern speeds is easily achieved with comfortable seating and excellent visibility.

The engine compartment is tidy and the rebuilt engine is fitted with a turbo Technics turbocharger and Alli Sport aluminum intercooler. The underside reveals a properly detailed chassis with durable frame members, heavy-duty suspension components, and other mechanical systems unique to the Land Rover Defender. The suspension, driveline, protective chassis armor, and rugged profile tires are perfectly suited to the character of the original Defender with just the right number of valued upgrades. This Land Rover Defender 110 is offered with selected service invoices under current and previous ownership.

For anyone seeking a high-quality Land Rover Defender 110 with legendary Arkonik upgrades, refurbished, and optioned for modern use, this Defender 110 is perfectly suited for an enthusiast seeking outdoor adventure just as originally intended by the innovators of the iconic Land Rover Defender.
