OVERVIEW

One of the most cherished Pick-Up Trucks of the 20th century, the Chevrolet C20 has become a highly sought-after vintage truck in the fast-growing collector truck community. The second generation C20, built from 1967-1972 are today considered the best examples for vintage style and performance. These trucks were durable, powerful, and utility oriented with features carried over from the sedan lines including automatic transmissions, air conditioning, power steering, carpeted cabs, and two-tone paint. The second generation also marked the introduction of the Cheyenne nameplate introduced in 1971, which featured several comfort options to add to the “Action Line” of the very popular smooth body style design of the late 60s and early 70s.

This beautifully restored Cheyenne Super C20 is a two-owner truck that has lived in the Pacific Northwest since new. Delivered to the first owner, this truck is packed with numerous options including:

  • Door Edge Guards

  • Upper Body Molding

  • Lower Body Molding

  • Door Lamp Switch

  • Floor board

  • 402 CID Engine

  • Comfortilt Steering Wheel

  • Auxiliary Battery

  • Marker Lamps

  • White & Medium Olive Paint

  • Tinted Glass

  • 4.Season Air Conditioning

  • Front Stabilizer

  • Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission

  • Power Steering

  • Heavy Duty Battery

  • Tachometer

  • Cheyenne Super Equipment

  • Olive Custom Cloth Trim

  • Spare Wheel Carrier

  • Chrome Hub Caps

The current owner purchased the truck approximately twenty years ago from the original owner, a resident of Auburn, WA. Although the truck was a very solid original example with low miles and no major damage, in 2002-2003 the current owner embarked on a complete body-off repaint and refurbishment tending to all details including the mechanical features, interior, and exterior trim. Photos documenting the restoration show a high level of work performed to achieve the high-quality finishes that remain evident in the current condition. The truck is not only beautifully restored it is a rare Cheyenne Super with factory comfort features including the big block 402 V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, Air Conditioning, and other amenities.

Today this Chevrolet Cheyenne Super C20 is in excellent condition throughout with finishes that can be confidently displayed at car shows and driven both as a utility vehicle, as a comfortable camping rig, or tow vehicle for your vintage car. The paint is in excellent condition with smooth glossy coverage applied over very nice original body panels. The two-tone olive metallic and ivory finish has a striking vintage presence set off by a slotted grille, round headlights nestled in squared off bezels, upright taillights, and chrome plated Cheyenne Super C20 side script with 8/400 engine emblems showcasing the big block V8. The slightly raked stance is just right for this truck, ready for cargo in the beautifully lined wooden floor bed. The power-assisted front disc brakes and power steering make for sedan-like comfort while driving. Even the stock ivory wheels and bright hubcaps give a nice touch of vintage class to this capable work horse.

The interior is a very nice balance of vintage materials and comfort features with just the right amount of chrome and faux woodgrain to convey the charm and unique character of this early 70s truck. The cloth insert bench seat is flanked by durable vinyl which matches the embossed door panels and padded dashboard. The olive exterior color is repeated in the interior on the dashboard and door panels giving a contrasting tri-color impression of quality and just a bit of plushness seldom seen in trucks of this vintage. The GM AM Band radio, AC and heater controls, chrome plated door handles, and AC vents are all in excellent condition. The molded black steering wheel houses a column shifter, turn indicator, and selection lever for cruise control. Even the gauges are remarkably nice given the age of this truck. The matching low pile dark green carpet, rubber padded foot pedals, and under dash components are all in excellent condition.

The engine compartment is beautifully sorted with a correctly finished 402 cu. in. V8 engine packed with factory accessories. New wiring, smooth operating AC unit, and professional finishes reflect the excellent restoration work performed on this truck. Correct orange paint has been applied to the engine, a factory correct air cleaner, correctly finished hardware, and engine compartment details have all been done to a very high standard. The underside reveals a nicely detailed chassis that was properly finished when restored, though now showing some signs of use and age to various raw metal parts. The suspension, front disc brakes, and durable powertrain are perfectly suited to meet the needs of enthusiasts who enjoy driving their vintage vehicles without worrying about perfection.

Outfitted from new with top-of-the-line options and delivered in fantastic original factory colors, this Chevrolet Cheyenne Super C20 is ready for any local car show or cars and coffee event. Built at a time when trucks were durable utility vehicles with unique styling and rugged performance features, this high-quality example is sure to please the next generation of enthusiasts or capture the reminiscing heart of a long-haul adventurer.
